Accommodations
It is advised to arrange accommodations as soon as possible. The University of Manitoba (U of M) Homestay program is a safe and well respected program. The program allows an international student to live in a Canadian home while studying at the ELC. Homestay students will have their own private room, and be provided with 3 meals daily. Please visit our website at umanitoba.ca/homestay for more information.

Arrival & Placement Test
We advise you to come at least 2 days before the placement test to make sure you are well-rested. This test is mandatory for all new students unless you directly enter Level 5 (IELTS Score 5.5 or 6.0*). Students with IELTS scores of 4.5 or 5.0 are guaranteed to study in Level 1, but must take the ELC’s placement test (CanTEST) to determine which level they will be placed. If you don’t take the Placement Test on January 5, and you do not have scores for Level 5, you will not be allowed to attend classes and your application will be deferred to the next term or cancelled.
*For other entrance requirement scores for Level 5, please see our website: http://www.umanitoba.ca/student/elc/fulltime/index.html
Once your registration is complete, you will receive a second letter confirming orientation details and locations, which will be sent to you no later than December 16, 2016.
